Wisconsin dry spell, and Scotts fertilizer?

We have a lack of rain in Wisconsin this summer, and the lawn is due for its fertilizer. As of now i am not fertilizing because i am afraid that the fertilizer might burn the lawn, and turn it brown more than it is. Should i leave the lawn alone, or just go ahead, and fertilize?

  1. if you are not watering it regularly, then leave it alone. its dormant and won't be able to benefit from the fertilizer anyway, and as you said, it could actually harm it
  2. I am in Wisconsin too....hold out just a little longer. I think we might have some rain soon, hope so anyway.
  3. Do a couple of good waterings over a couple of days, then follow the directions on the fertilizer (make sure it's not going to rain too soon). It should be fine! Keep in mind, however, that many cities are also on watering bans when it gets like this.
