turf type tall fescue lawn?
Does this make a nice looking, easy to care for lawn? somebody told me this is a very fast growing grass that will need mowing more than once a week and will drive me crazy? I'm looking at a seed mix that's 80% turf type tall fescue and 20% kentucky blue grass. Thanks for any info!

- Fescue does make a lawn appealing especially in the fall and spring months. However it's a very high maintenance type of grass; mowing, watering, fertilizing, aerating and reseeding. Most people will use a blend of different types that aren't prone to problems of the other types, thus always having some sort of lawn during the worst conditions.I have found out that grasses such as bermuda are low maintenance and always comes back even under the worst conditions but it's very invasive to flower beds and the like.
- for looks you can't bet fescue year round, but in hot weather you will need to mow it once a week and fert 4 times a year the others are a seasonable lawn and will also need mowing once a week in hotter weather and fert 3 times a year a low maint lawn look for a low water slow grow fescue in your area, blends and types will depend on the grower call and do some home work before you take the plung and make sure you prep the soil before you plant as you can never do it again after you seed or sod good luck
- Where do you live?? Fescue is a cool-season grass so if you live someplace with hot dry summers you will either water a lot or have a lot of die off. When the conditions are right, it can grow VERY quickly and need mowing more than once a week. Also, most varieties will not fill in bare spots on their own and you will need to overseed every fall.
