Should we kill all of our grass/weeds and start new?
My wife and I live in Charlotte, NC and just bought a home with a semi established yard. Our yard guy thinks most of our yard is bermuda and weeds and we should apply two treatments to kill the grass/weeds in June/July and then reseed in September. Should we do that or should I just put out weed and feed today and seed in September? Thanks P.S. He says Kentucky Blue Grass is a great grass for us since we do not have a watering system and he says it's drought tollerant.

- If it is overgrown with weeds and undesirable grass it would not be a bad idea. By killing the lawn now, you can establish your new lawn in the spring and not lose a full year. It would also give you an opportunity to over seed again in the early fall to promote additional growth and fill in area of the yard that did not take. If you do go through with killing out your existing lawn, make sure you do properely prepare your yard or it may not get the results you want. I would check with a couple of nursery or yard care services to confirm the type of seed that is best for your area and soil.
