Would anyone like to check my math homework about weighted avarages for me?

2. A nursery sells Kentucky Blue Grass seeds for $5.75 per pound and Tall Fescue seed for $5.50 per pound. The nursery sells a mixture of the two kinds of seeds for $5.25 per pound. Let k represent the amount of Kentucky Blue Grass seeds. The nursery uses in 5 pounds of the mixture. Key: ke represents kentucky blue grass seeds $5.75 per pound tf represents tall fescue seeds $5.25 per pound m represents mixture $5.25 per pound k represents amount of ke seeds 5 pounds of the mixture name of price pounds amount ke $5.75 k $5.75k tf $5.25 5 $5.25(5) m $5.75($5.25) k+5 $5.75($5.25)+k+5 equation: 5.75k+5.25(5) = $5.75($5.25)+k+5 lbs Distribute: 5.75k+26.25 = 30.18+k+5 lbs Subtract the k from the right side of the equation and from the left side of the equation: 5.75k-k+26.265 = 30.18+k-k+5 4.75k+26.25 = 30.18+5 Combine like terms on the right side of the equation: 4.75k+26.25 = 35.18

  1. This problem does not make sense. If a company is selling one seed for $5.75 and the other for $5.50. Then how could they sell a mixture for $5.25. The mixture would have to be between 5.50 and 5.75. Therefore this problem does not make sense.
