The Grass Doctor

does the color of newly seeded grass change once it matures?

I had some bare spots in my yard, so I used some seed kit to patch it. It grew in fine, but the color is brighter than the rest of the grass. I have kentucky blue grass, but this was just some generic kind of seed I used. Will it eventually blend in? Its about 2 inches right now.

  1. I don't know whether or not it actually changes, but it will definitely blend as the old and new grass spread into each other's territory.
  2. There may be slight color or texture differences if they are not the same species. But yes - newly sprouted grass is ALWAYS a lighter green...and will darken as it matures.
