what breed of grass is best to put down in my lawn if I want insane growth???
I live in central Virginia and I need to know what breed of grass seed that I can put down that will actually take to the climate and soil out here. I seem to have bare spots despite my efforts to throw down regular seed IE Kentucky blue grass, is there a type or brand that is extremely potent and grows like a weed. I have part of my grass on a hill and I need grass to keep the erosion down. Thanks a bunch people

- you dont want insane grownth lets just say since i had that once and we had to mow it like 2 times a week and it sucked dont get insane growth stick with what you got!!
- loco weed
- annual rye-grass
- Doge De Bourdeux" Go to your local Home Depot store lawn department and ask them for waht you want. Different grasses grow better in different areas ,so they would know what to sell you for your needs in your area. Good luck.
- a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus that night on this stuff.
- I used Kentucky Blue grass so until I read the rest......I was going to say that. Just go to the experts in the lawn and garden center and look and read the packages that give you the info you need for the soil, the sun, the dampness, the zone where you live and time of year to seed. It's probably going to be fescue, but read and learn the vest one for your situation. Good luck.
- If you have already tried Kentucky Red Fescue No.31,then I would try Zoysia grass. Then down side to this is,in the winter it browns out.It is a vine grass. That doesn't mean you will see vines . It grows underground. The only thing you will see is grass. It has an insane growth rate.I've seen it go under driveways. It's also hard to get rid of.You buy it in plugs about the size of a golf ball
- Contact your county extension service and ask for a soil test. You may have to add lime or fertilizer. They can advise you on what type of grass grows in your climate. Other things to consider are how much sun or shade do you get and how much rain. The extension service is one of the few useful things your taxes pay for.
