Good weed killer that wont hurt grass?

I need to go a good weed killer that wont hurt my grass, I have alot of the weeds with the purple flowers on top and alot of the really tass grass with seeds on top, foxtails? I believe. I saw alotta roundup but it says it kills grass to, I was told by someone if your grass is dormant roundup wont hurt it, any truth to that? I bought a ortho weed b gone max that attaches to the garden hose and was going to see if that does anything, I tried some scotts TB2 with weed killer the pellets and applied it, and it did nothing at all.

  1. Follow the directions on the Weed-B-Gone and your grass should not be affected and the weeds will be dead soon-good stuff.
  2. You need a broadleaf killer. The commercial one farmers use is 2-4-D. There are several good Weed and Feed types that fertilize and kill broadleaf plants. Read the labels as there are many different concentrates out there. Price it by the square ft coverage. Keep it a long way from trees or any broadleafs you want to keep. Foxtail is very hard to kill with chemicals, but a strong lawn will choke it out quite quickly.
  3. Ortho Weed-B-Gon is good. I don't like the type that attaches to the hose, though. For best results, use Weed-B-Gon concentrate in a pump-up sprayer. It's more time consuming to have to shoot each weed this way, rather than just hosing it over the whole yard, but it's much more effective. For really tough weeds, such as the ones with the purple flowers, spray them once and then again in a couple of days, after you see them begin to wilt.
  4. Weed-b-Gone and Image are the two most common weed killers that are used on lawns.
