Mouse in spinal shock?
My cat got to a field mouse and I suspect it is in spinal shock. It cannot use it's back legs well, and is shaking. It is in a empty 10 gallon tank with some grass, leaves and pieces of leaves. I found it last night around 7:00 and it made it through the night. It is eating and drinking (crackers and seeds) Is there any hope it will survive? What else can I do to help it? Just wanted everyone to know that the mouse is doing fine. He has "come out of shock" and now is running all over.

- wild mice carry disease. you should put it out of it's misery and wash your hands.
- PUT IT OUT OF ITS MISSERY!! in other words kill it or get someone else to, even if you take care of it and help it survive, you will become attached then you wont want to release it again!! Sorry but there is not other way!
- We'll, it's good that he's eating and seeming doing well besides his spine. If you can, taking him to the vet might be a good idea. She or he can check him out and see how's he doing and if he will make it. If he gets better and is using able to get around and such, you can release him back into the wild. He should be okay on crackers and seeds until you can get some help from the vet, or he gets better himself. You can also try giving him some vegetables or fruit so he can have more hydration from the water in the fruits and vegetables. Good luck to you and your buddy!
- Now that it is doing well I would go to a field and set it free. You don't want to keep it because wild mice carry diseases.
