The Grass Doctor

How do you keep cats from your newly planted lawn as a litter box?

We recently tilled up our front yard and planted grass seed. It appears that some of the neighborhood cats like to use one area of the lawn as their own personal litter box.

  1. Shoot at them with gun. Works for me.
  2. It won't hurt anything. Once the grass gets established, it will be hard to dig up the soil and the cats will find an easier place.
  3. find out where all the cats live and crap in their gardens and then tell their owners you'll only stop doing it if they stop their cats using your garden as a litter box!
  4. Everytime your cat tries to do this lift your cat into the litter box and the cat shoukd lean fast !!
  5. motion activated water sprinklers? heh heh
  6. You can try using these things: http://www.gardeners.com/Safe-Cat-Deterrent/default/StandardCatalog.YardPests_DogsCats.31-954.cpd;pgid=8BH4FB4H00000000000000000000RHrtzrVv;sid=0prY81_VwpR_2BuYvB288F_fhepHMKffeP0= Other ideas: Plant a temporary border of something that smells very strongly of citrus (like lemon balm) ... cats generally dislike acrid or sour smells. You could also try using deer repellant - the active ingredient in deer repellent is cougar urea, so the domestic cats will think - like deer - that something bigger and nastier is nearby waiting to eat them.
