I got a "Chia Cat" for Xmas and my cat ate some?
I got a variation of a Chia Pet called "Chia Cat" and its seeds are cat grass. Its meant for cats to eat and since I have an indoor cat I thought it was a great idea Well the cat grass got to grow around 2 inches and I showed it to my kitty. She seems to love it and she chewed the hell out of it and made it from 2 inches to 1 inch. Then almost immediately after she started gagging and eventually threw it all up on the floor. Should I be concerned? I followed all the directions to a T and the grass seems to be growing great. Why would it make my kitty sick? Should I let her eat it again in a few days or should I keep it away from her?? This is the exact chia cat I got for Xmas http://www.chia.com/catgrass.html

- When a cat eats any type of grass they will vomit. What you need to do is let it grow, cut it and dry it out. Then you can crush it and sprinkle it on things. Good Luck
- I know it's safe for humans, not sure about cats.
- Cats cannot digest grass very well and eating a lot of it all at once can cause them to vomit. It's ok, he's not *really* sick he just had to get the extra grass out of his tummy. In the future I wouldnt let him eat too much of the grass at once.
- Usually when animals eat grass it's because of the following reasons: -Cats use grass as a laxative to enable them to pass hairballs lodged in their intestines. -Cats eat grass to make them vomit up hairballs. -Cats eat grass because they are feeling sick and this makes them vomit, getting rid of poisons. -Cats eat grass to relieve inflammation of their throats. -Cats eat grass to relieve stomach ache. -Cats eat grass to add roughage to their diets. So really the grass isn't bad for her and it's ok for her to eat it. I would let her continue to eat it.
- Hard to say your cat may not like it. Not all Cats will like that stuff For Example My Cat Sylvester hates Catnip. He won't have anything to do with it That whiskas Catmilk. He didn't like it either. But if you are concerned talk to you vet and talk to the company Could Just be that the cat's not used to it either but for saftey's sake run it by your vet and see what they say Different cat's like different things I know sylvester's not fussy about a lot but He likes what he likes and he lets you know when he doesn't like something Could also be kitty just ate 2 much 2 fast too
- Wish I got a Chia Cat for Xmas! My cats would go wild for it! That's what it's for,... I usually go outside and bring in fresh grass and wash for my cats. It's good for your kitty, they need for digestion, normal to puke up the bile w/grass,.... aids what ails them. No worries.
- That just means she ate too much. Let it grow out a bit and only let her eat some, then take it away. She should be fine then.
