Has anyone grown cat grass?
I grew some cat grass from seed and it sprouted very quickly. About two weeks later it started turning brown and dying. Did I water it too much or not enough? Any recommendations are appreciated, I am going to grow it again.

- I've tried to grow cat grass too. try putting it near the sun, and don't water it too much. If it was turning brown i dont think you were watering it enough because it seems like it dried up. i hope this helps and good luck!!!
- well, I don't know because they have different types that come with different instructions: just make sure the kind you gets comes with specific instructions and then follow them exactly I guess (the kind I had told me how much water and how often-but it's been awhile so I don't remember, sorry)
- Try growing it in a large container and keep it in a well lighted area. Good Luck.
- Turning brown and dying sounds like not enough water. I, too, tried growing the cat grass that is sold and found it does not last that long. I started growing some winter rye grass in a shallow tub in the house. I just put soil and rye seed in a shallow dish pan, water it every 3rd day and keep it in bright light with a little direct sun each day. Cheaper than the "cat grass" and same nutrients for kitty.
- I'm pretty sure it just dies quickly. on the package I got it said it would die within two weeks of becoming full grown.
- It says right on the package that it lasts about 2 weeks.
- The above poster is correct. The grass only last for a couple of weeks, and after that if not consuned by the cat, dies out.
- mine has always died very quickly too. some kinds say they last a short time, and others give instructions that don't really work. i bought some from a pet store once that they said they water it every day but when i watered it every day it overflowed and still ended up dying. it seems like that's just the life span for the type of grass.
