  1. Its next to impossible to get rid of all of them but yes you ahve to try and please do not use strong chemicals. One way is to mow the weeds if at all possible and starve em of sunlight and water by covering em up and then rpeat this a couple of times every week for a few weeks. This should exhaust the bulbs underground. Then remove the visible parts...till the land, water it and let the water stand over night.Next day plant the seeds. All the best.
  2. Yes you need to get rid of the weeds first. Use Roundup spray. Wait 2 wks before seeding. You need to till and level the entire area before seeding.
  3. If you don't use a broad leaf herbicide first then your new seed has to compete. Don't spray seeded areas until after the 2cnd cut of new grass. don't use roundup if you have established grass in the weeded area. Scotts weed and feed is a good 2x a year treatment.
  4. no just mow them down and plant your grass seed mowing the grass will keep the weeds down and in time they will die off
