- summer???
- In May and I use a spreader from Home Depot or Lowells.
- Spring, after the last frost, depending on how big your lawn is there are different ways to pland grass seeds but you should check out home depot, they can give you some great tips on planting grass
- spring buy some seeds and buy soil and water them every 6hours
- Now is a good time. Use a spreader like you would use for fetilizer. Make sure to give your lawn pleanty of water too.
- spring time, sow evenly, a big handful for a yard square . cover with fine netting or else the birds will have it. and water regularly ps, covering with netting means, suspending it about a foot abouve , on small bits of stick
- rake you yard clean of all debre water the dirt first spread your desired seed the water keeps it from blowing everywhere then water every evening when the sun is about to go down this keeps it from frying your seed good luck
- You need to tread the ground flat, like taking very little steps(shuffle along the floor) to make sure the ground is compact, then shatter the grass seed over the ground, make sure its kept wet, especially if u have a dry climate, spring is a good time to do it. Also make sure you have a bird deterant, putting old cd's on string about 4 inches above the ground is a good one, or using silver foil. Grass should be easy to grow, its a natural runner so should thicken up quickly. just make sure its weeded. Good Luck x
- Spring is OK, but late summer and even early fall is much better. If you plant in spring, your grass will have to compete with all sorts of spring and summer weeds. The how: Make sure you have lots of organic material in your soil (i.e. compost) and ensure you have the proper pH level (get a soil test if you are really serious about doing this, they only run about $10 and are worth every penny!) The grass seeds must have good contact with the soil or nothing will happen. Tamp or roll the soil after you sow the seeds and most importantly, keep the ground moist for 2-3 weeks.
- For a new lawn the best time is in the fall, that way the annual seeds germinate and die off in the fall. If you plant in the spring or summer, they germinate and go to seed in due course and that starts the whole cycle all over again and they will take over the lawn. For established lawns, when you will have evening temperature in the upper 50's for several days you will have the best germination. Rake down to the soil, spread the seed and use a roller if you have one, as the seed needs to be in contact with the soil.
- the best time is just before a growing season, make sure u throw the seed onto a sandy loam (more sand in the soil). once the seed has been thrown out, cover the area with straw, this keeps the birds out and also gives the seed a bit of added protection from the elements, once the grass is established the straw will become a mulch.
