Do I fertilize my lawn and then plant grass seeds? Any advise on how to do this?

- grass seed, then fertilizer. otherwise, there would be nothing to fertilize.
- 1 to 2 weeks later is fine!
- plant the seed , then in a few weeks add fertilizer , the main thing is , to keep the soil moist for at least the first month to let it root in , don't drown it , just keep it moist , also -if there were any stumps recently where you are planting, any debris from stumps will take the nitrogen from the soil and may require more fertilize if it begins to discolor or act sick , Good Luck!
- I should have. I tore up some dead sections of my lawn with a steel rake and re-seeded without using fertilizer, and NOTHING is happening! It's been two weeks, I've been watering every other day, and not a single blade has sprouted. I'm so pissed off.
- make sure that you prep the soil first, make sure you have a good quality base, meaning good top soil that is not to heavy with clay,if it is mix some sand, peet moss, and top soil together so it will drain well, plant your grass seed, fertilize, and water well,it isn't the right time of the season to plant grass the heat of summer could destroy all your work before the grass has a chance to establish its root system
