  1. yes
  2. you can 'plant' grass seed in the fall. Just go to a store that sells grass seed and read the bag. It will tell you what and when to do it.
  3. i wouldn,t palnt them at all if i was you, you may have more success if you plant them
  4. It is probably too late. If they germinate, the coming cold will kill them. Wait until Spring (Bandini).
  5. I just did and I live in Northern Michigan. I pulled out broadlead weeds in large patches, threw down some good soil and seeded. The grass sprouted in about 4 days. I am hoping it will get a fast hold and fill in the bare spots. I did this last year and it worked beautifully. The snow we get insulated the ground and the grass seems to do just fine.
  6. Yes you can, but it needs to be Annual Rye Grass. It dies out in the warmer months , when the summer grasses start to grow, but is green all winter.
  7. You can but right now is getting a little late for the midwest.
  8. We live in NE Ohio (zone 5/6) and just planted some this afternoon. Some we planted a couple of weeks ago has come in nicely. Make sure you mulch with straw and keep it moist if you don't get any rain, but that's usually not a problem this time of year. Fall is generally regarded as one of the best times to plant grass because it does well in the cooler temperatures.
