How fast will lawn grow to good full green?

Using a half sun half shade Scotts grass seed in the deep south, how soon could I expect a full green yard, with the proper planting and seed starter and watering? Wondering how long I will have to wait till my lawn is lookind good, seeding on top of my grass that I have now.
