What is the best grass seed to put into a established yard where dogs have used it all winter?
I am thinking of putting some grass seed on the back yard this spring where the dogs have really chewed it up with there feet. Now it is a muddy mess in spots. And i will need it to grow fast otherwise it will just happen again.

- fescue31 is a hardy grass, and grows easy enough to get you started.see source
- Use tall fescue. It's hardy and will last a long time even with dogs.Good Luck.
- CIL< Scotts are the 2 brand names I would use, but first you will have to rake up any dead grass and what not from the area first. Then what I would do, is mix up a slurry of peat moss, top soil and grass seed, once that is mixed well (use lots of seed) throw the "patch" onto the area that needs grass and tamp down gently. You must keep it moist at all times. If it dries out, the seed will not germinate. Canadian Tire is a good place to get seed from. Don't get the patch kits you can buy, it is cheaper to do it yourself. good luck
- I would put in a running grass such as kikuyu so it can re establish itself. I would be staying clear of fescue as it will not re generate. Fence off the area and lay the turf.
