How long does over fertilized burnt grass grow back?

What to do my st.augustine grass is dying fast? Hurry!!!! I need help!!!!!My front lawn looks horrible!!!! It's looks like mud and brown patches. I've tried grass seeds but that died too!!! Help!!!! So, how long will the grass grow back or do I need to replant st.augustine grass? What do I do for the grass right now? I've watered and we have had several thunderstorms. 1. You'll need to leach out the excess fertilizer with copious amounts of water before you replant. How much is anyone's guess at the moment... it depends on how much you applied and your soil type.
2. Depends on how over fertilized you got it... but probably should start seeing some grass come back next year... it you can water the area if you don't get much rain to help get the fertilizer out of the soil.
3. It's taken me almost three years to get my St Augustine to regrow. I had the same problem, but I got mine using the wrong kind of weed killer. It is very sensitive to weed killer. I just keep cleaning out the brown spots and redirecting the new growth toward the bare spots. It does not need fertilizer that often. The best fertilizer for this kind of grass is a quart of coke a can of beer and lemon juice to repel the bugs. Put in lawn sprayer and attach to hose and spray lawn. The beer will help the dead grass turn to mulch and the coke will act as the fertilizer and the lemon juice will repel the bugs. You might also want to check and see if you have grubs. This can be done by digging a spot about 6x6 and 3 inches deep in an area around the brown spots. If you find more than 3 grubs in the area you have an infestation and might need to call in a professional. It's very hard to find st Augustine seeds. But if you check out your neighborhood Pikes gardening store you may catch some on sale by the patch 18x18..
