What is the best brand grass seed I can buy. I want it to grow fast but last a long time.?

- Speedy green sold at hardware stores
- Ask around your area. Different grasses for different climates.
- There's some really nice fescues - they're a bit more drought tolerant, feel great on the feet and with proper watering, they'll send down roots that can get up to 4-5 feet deep! Great grass in my opinion. We have some lovely bonsai fescue that we love. Goodluck!
- Plant more then one type of seed at the same time. Plant rye so it will grow fast & fescue to last a long time. The rye will die out in freezing weather.
- Usually the best is a bit more expensive, but is worth the additional cost in the long run. Fewer weed seed in the mix. What type of grass depends on where you live. In the hot south fescue will go dormant or die in the heat...but Bermuda will do just fine...except in a drought when it goes dormant....however Zoysia will probably stay green longer, but St.Augustine is best if you live in a coastal area...however centipede might be a better grass in the shade! WHEW! :) See what I mean about climate? Go to a local nursery or call around and ask. They don't mind telling you what will grow best in your area. You may want to call a lawn care company and ask as well. That is their specialty. Hope this helps. :)
