my husband is starting a lawn mowing service, what is the going rate for mowing lawns at peoples homes?advice?

this will be a part-time job. does anyone have any advice or info on starting your own lawn service?

1. this is a hard question to answer, reason being i have lived in houses that have less than a half acre to mow, and i have lived where there was 2 acres to mow, now i have 5 acres to mow. you don't want to charge same rate for all three yards, The guy across the road gets his yard mowed, trimmed, branches removed, sidewalks and driveways blown get the works done, it is about an acre to acre and a half he get 150.00 a week.
2. well it depends on the size of the Yard and how much clean-up is needed before you can mow it I have done nice yards for as low a $25.00 and others as high as $800.00 a week the one for 25 took about a hour to mow and the one for 800 took a week just to clean up the junk that was in the Yard before i could mow it you need to think about the gas needed and the weather I lost my butt on mine
