can used motor oil be used to fertilize lawns?
Public Comments
- NOT as is. It will get into the water table...
- No. Used motor oil would not help your lawn. Used motor oil would contaminate your ground water. Used motor oil can not even be disposed of with regular trash, it is a "household hazardous waste." I think perhaps you are confusing it with other types of waste (such as biosolid sludge or compost) that have historically been used as fertilizers.
- No.
- Come on! That's the most ignorant question ever on YA!
- Used motor oil will kill grass and any type of plant. And then also you will never be able to plant anything in that soil ever again, nothing will grow or stay alive because it has motor oil in the soil.
- No, but it works great mixing with a little gasoline and pouring on weeds and burning them.
- No, it is a wives tail that it can fertilize lawn or be used for injuries on animals. very dangerous.
- That is not a valid way to dispose of your ised motor oil. Any oil in the grass will kil the lawn and like other users say: "It will contaninate the ground water". I recommend bring the oil to s waste disposal/managment center. Anyways, oil has never been used or ever will be used as a fertilizer. What nutrients can it have?
