Lawn cutting before fertilizing the lawn?
I just cut the lawn and would like to put down fertilizer. My question is, should I wait a few days before I do so? I'm afraid with the fresh cut grass blades that it will burn the lawn. I'm only asking because we are expecting rain and thought I could save on water since the fertilizer needs it, rather than wait and then run the sprinkler. Thanks for your help.

- Don't worry, go ahead and fertilize before the rain. No problem.
- I would fertilize just before the rain comes. You could also put it on now and it would not hurt anything.
- For me I always like to apply on a damp grass, giving it time to dissolve. If applying a weed and feed variety they recommend on damp grass so the pellets will cling to leafs. There is much controversy about weed and feed and the use of organics.I prefer the more environmental friendly approach.Problem with applying just before rain chances are it washes away with drainage. I would apply on damp ground evening before and water in the next mourning. But that's just me.
- I was a landscaper for 8 years and its always best to fertilize right after you cut the grass. if you fertilize and than cut the grass you will pick up a lot of the fertilizer especially if you bag. You will not burn the grass by doing so because all granular fertilizer is time released meaning it slowing breaks down over time. feed away and if it rains in a day or so even better.
