How often during the year does a lawn need fertilizing?

1. Only once! Don't believe the fertilizer bag when they say do it 5 times a year!

3. depends on the fertilizer, miracle grow and water will do a lot
4. It depends on the state of the lawn. Twice is usually enough and will require a different fertiliser for spring and autumn.

I think it depends on the type of lawn you have. there are different kinds of lawn, some that are green in the summer, and they go yellow in the winter (as they get affected by the cold weather) like "BermudaGrass", and others are green in the winter and the summer heat affects them. i think it only needs to be fertilized once a year usually a month before its period. so if it work in summer, one month before summer starts and if it was a winter grass, one month before the winter starts.
