- The best thing to do is to show them how good you are at mowing first. Show them a before and after picture of your lawn. Give out fliers and do door to door as well. If you can, provide a demo as well
- Make some fliers, and pass them out around the neighborhood, and put in a coupon for the 1st timer, like $10 off for first timer, or if you sign up, receive 10% off etc... Then go out there on weekends, when people are mowing their lawn and offer them your service, dress properly and make sure you are ready to show them how to mow the lawn, to demostrate your skill. Also, you need to be ready to quote them a price, for example, it will be based on the size, do you trim? do you seed etc.... Setup the rate chart first, before you start to advertising.
- You should make flyers and post them. Also, you might try Cellyspace (dot) com and make a mobile flyer or business card. You could put info on your flyers, post an ad in the paper with a link to your mobile business card. I'd say try everything. Cellyspace seems to be helping me.
- Kristoffer m. & paobay have some good points. I gave you some others in my answer. Here's at least one more: This IS GOING to take some time to PROPERLY do: On your computer, on light green letter-size paper, designed [as you would a business card - only with larger font] a multi-purpose flyer. The flyer should have the same information for your purposes "Rasta Man's Lawn Mowing Service --- PLUS" Yard Clean-outs and Clean-ups Lawn Edging Lawn Mowing Shrub Trimming Leaf Raking Snow Shoveling AND [whatever other info you decide to add to the flyer.] Please call for free estimates 222-666-1111 For lack of a better term: "Master Flyer": Design and use this as the one you'll give to each individual customer or leave in doors - NOT mailboxes. For advertizing and promotion on a larger scale: designed as you would a business card - with those little tear off tabs at the bottom OR side. On this one, you won't need any phone number. Your phone number will be on those little tabs. Lawnmowing PLUS 222-666-1111 Go to supermarkets and laundramats. PLEASE ASK permission to put them up or display them. Put these on the bulletin boards of laundramats and supermarkets in your area. In fact wherever you see other folks' flyers and advertizing, you should ask if you could add yours, too. From time-to-time you'll have to go back and put those flyers back on those bulletin boards. Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it! VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name!
- Put a classified ad in your local paper and/or pennysaver, as well as on craigslist. Hanging ads on doors is great (especially if their lawn needs help) - include an incentive for referrals, word of mouth from happy customers is the best advertising.
- You can post your ads for free at www.zikbay.com. Visit this site and you can have your own free online store!
