What is the next step after fertilizing your lawn?
I have recently spread some fertilizer on my lawn and I was wondering what the next step was to getting a healthy, green lawn for the summer
Public Comments
- water it every two weeks unless it rains.
- read the back of the bag
- Watch the grass grow.
- all fertilizer should be watered in just after you spread it. The best is to spread it just before rain. The nezt step is to mow!!!! you can use broadleaf weed killers and insecticides if you want. Check with a local garden center for any information on the how and when for infor on the parts of the above.
- water
- water, moe, and then this summer put down some Turf Builder Summerguard!
- You should use a pre-emergent herbicide in the early spring and a post-emergent herbicide in the late spring to eliminate and control weeds. In the spring and summer, let your lawn grow higher than the manicured golf course look many people like. This will both choke out the weeds and conserve moisture. Use an insecticide and/or grub control in the summer. Don't forget the winterizer in early fall to start out with the best lawn on the block next year. And if you're very serious about having a great lawn, have your soil analyzed at your county extension service and add lime and/or iron to get a nice green lawn. Have your lawn aerated every 3-5 years depending on the soil type. If all this seems complicated, the easiest way to go is to use Scotts 4-step annual program along with annual applications of lime and GrubEx. The lime goes on in the late fall or early spring. The GrubEx goes on around June 1.
