How to promote my lawn mowing business and make it more legitimate?

I'm a 17 year old kid who mows lawns over the summer. I have about 4 regular clients. I want to give myself a business name and stuff- make it into an actual business not just a kid mowing lawns. What are the steps I need to do this? I want to keep it simple... hopefully not something that I'm paying taxes on but so that I'm in the phone book (or just have fliers around town?) Next, how do I promote it other than fliers? Thanks

  1. make up 5x8 flyer's and leave at Senior citizen centers, Laundromats, magnetic sign for your truck, print business cards and leave at restaurants, parts stores,
  2. I'm not sure but I think you have to be 18 to get a state license that could show the name of your business, your business license. If you're not 18 then your parents could start the business for you and do your taxes till you're 18 and then you can put it into your own name, and they'd have to pay for it. I'm not sure if you'd need insurance or not, you'd have to check. When you have your own business you incur expenses so you'd have to work a lot harder to pay those expenses than you would just doing four yards. So for now maybe you'd best be just doing neighbors lawns and pocketing the money. I think after $400 a year you'll have to file taxes so somebody has to claim you, like your parents. when you start a business you need to do a business plan and that's on sba.gov. Your kind of business would be promoted by word of mouth, and staying within say 4 blocks from your home because any more than that would require transportation and that would be expensive these days with the cost of gas increasing. Don't waste your money on fliers. Go door to door and ask.
  3. hi have a look on this web site they have everything to promote your business good luck
