The Grass Doctor

Little tube shaped pieces of brown crap on my lawn - what could it be?

There are these little pieces of what looks like dog poop or Canadien geese poop all over my lawn. I mean it's on almost every square food. I think I would have noticed a flock of birds or a pack of dogs going to the restroom on the lawn...what could it be?

  1. Could it be something like seeds off of trees--wind blown there??? Could it be halloweeners scattering things on your lawn???
  2. If you don't do your own grass cutting perhaps the lawn service people aerated (spelling might be wrong) with a machine. I had mine done and it is supposed to be good for the lawn.
  3. toads also leave their droppings all over the place. Do you have many toads. I find their turds on my veranda every morning .. smelly stuff
  4. goose poop, they are not necessarily in huge groups and leave exactly what you are seeing. You could also take a sample to the animal control office.
  5. Without pics it's hard to tell: goose/bird droppings, plugs from soil aeration (if you had that done), could also be worm castings (check to see if you've got good dirt and worms - not a bad thing at all!). It could be geese - they move through quickly and process what they eat faster than a 1 year old.
  6. If it's brown, then it's probably not from the geese. Their "tubes" are usually green from all of the grass they've eaten.
