I live in The Colony and I am looking for a lawn care service in my area that will be strictly organic.? I want a company that will do everything except the watering. My lawn has not been treated in 3 years so I am ready for organics. Anybody know any companies like this in my area?
Lawn care advice so I don't poison my baby? I have a one year old. Previously we have used whatever lawn care products. I have a hard time finding the organic stuff. My husban recently sprayed moss killer (non-organic) in the back yard but not the front. Previous to this, since last summer, we have not used anything. Questions My little guy was playing in the untreated since last summer front yard grass. Would there be anything dangerous left over? If we get organic lawn care products and treat the back yard again should I still keep him off the grass because of the non-organic stuff that was used? I'm not good at this stuff as it is. Now I need to figure out how to have a nice lawn and not poison my toddler!! Any help or advice would be great. Thanks
Does anyone have a simple but effective lawn care routine? I need help establishing a good lawn care routine. We were using Trugreen but I am trying to get away from the chemicals so much. It doesn't have to be a totally organic routine but I have a dog and small children who play in our yard. Right now I mow and let the clippings return to the yard and my husband edges every so often. We have fescue grass I think. I would like to know when to weed and feed and what to use, etc.
Need help starting a GREEN lawn Care service? I'm trying to start a GREEN lanw care service in Plymouth. Ma. I have looked around and have'nt found any in this area. So the question is do you think I could find some lawn mower company or some ECO-friendly buisness to help me get the equipment I need to get this up and running? I plan on donating money from the buisness to charity once its up and making money.I'm going to donate to a cancer or an ECO cause. I'm going to use only organic lawn treatments and electric and reel mowers. I need to find or have someone build like 3reel mowers together, becaue their so small it would take for ever to mow a yard. But I think it's a GOOD idea. GO GREEN. The name I plan to use is Clean Air Lawn Care! Pleas tell me what you think and be honest I need feed back so I can put ideas in order thank you
Lawn care....any suggestions? I bought this house 2 1/2 years ago and I am going into my 3rd season with the lawn. I have lot's of clay dirt and that's a battle on it's own. I have used Scots steps each year and it's improved a great deal, I also used some liquid fertilizers during the summer months for roots and color, strength etc. I am working on patching bare spots...most of them are 12inX12in. I usually dig out 1/2 to 1 inch of the clay and put in a mixture of top organic top soil moisture with a good Quality seed (Scott's premium mix) and starter fertilizer. I make sure the entire lawn (1 arce) is well watered through the dry months.... so I have that covered! The problem: It looks spotty in places, different colors and it's not uniform, there are large patches that are great, healthy, thick, green grass like a golf course but in some areas for no apparent reason look discolored and weak. why is that...and is there anything that can be
School me on proper shady lawn care? Here are some particulars: live in PA, have about a third of an acre with about a 10, 50-60 year old trees in my yard. There's a mix of grass, moss, weeds, and other organic matter (acorns, twigs, needles, etc) on the ground now. I'm trying to grow grass effectively. This is the third spring we've been here, and in the previous two years, I've put down random 2-3 pound bags of grass to try to get some of the repair started. It's pretty spotty and I did notice that this spring, some of the seed that I planted in the past 2 years had surprisingly began to emerge! But it's still pretty thin. I'm not interested in tearing up the whole lawn and starting from scratch. I'm interested in perhaps trying some of those new products like Scotts EZ Seed, but want to perhaps mix it with another seed to a) control costs, and b) have a grass that can grow fast, but live throughout the year and remain after the grounds thaw in the winter. Is this doable? If so, what are your tips to help my partial lawn grow into a nice, thick lawn? BQ, I just spread some weed 'n feed in my front lawn, how long should I wait to spread seed so that the new seed won't burn from the fertilizer? I appreciate the input. But I will also add that my neighbors have GREAT lawns. So my physical attributes don't matter TOO much. I'm just wondering how I can get over the hump! :)!
lawn care services san antonio texas? So we moved into a development where they put down sod and it died with the summer drought and cold winter. Some of our grass is now growing, but there are big bare patches, and one whole strip just dirt. each time we pull weeds, they come back with the rains on a vengance, and we've got bugs and bugs in the dirt, ewww. So...I'm thinking its a good idea to have a pro come settle our yard from weeds and bugs, and then we can do the upkeep ourselves. What is a good company to start this process? Do places (aka trugreen or your recommendations) usually treat the dirt to kill the bugs and the grass weeds, and then replant seed where necessary? Do you know of anyone using organic materials - i have a dog and don't want him dying or throwing up on stuff...
Using weed/grass killer for lawn while pregnant? I'm 18 weeks and my husband is rarely around so I am forced to do most of the lawn care for our rental home. I've been using an organic weed/grass killer spray to kill the weeds. Do you think it could be harmful to my baby doing this? I always wash my hands well afterwards.
What legal recourse do I have? Today a local lawn care company stopped by and started fertilizing my lawn. The problem is, we don't have a contract with them to do so. We also have a small child who likes to play in the grass and a dog who uses the lawn for his business. We try to keep our lawn care as organic as possible, so this really flies in the face of what we're doing. What can we do?
I want to make organic fertilizer? By taking a product with 6 common ingredients. I want to then add 3 new patent pending ingredients and sell it as a new product as a distributor to lawn care businesses. Can I legally mix these products together and make my own product and sell it under my own brand name.

find draft, grammar check, and the fourth para is my conclusion and i wrote in alternative term. Please help The use of herbicide in lawn care has increased in the past year. Advertising has portrayed herbicide as a magician that could provide a nice environment in a really short time, in order to fulfill our desire. This chemical spray is use to destroy needless weeds and plants, but a lot of people overuse it, and that causes many problems. These problems can typically be found around us. Pollution in our water, and other effects on human health. Therefore, we have a responsibility to prevent the use of herbicide and protect our life and the environment we live in. Herbicide contains two specific ingredients: glyphosate and 2,4D. These chemicals are commonly used in farms, parks and golf courses. Farmers and gardeners use the chemicals to kill unwanted plants, but they don’t realize that the chemicals do not stay on the plants. The herbicides are getting into our water, rivers and, subsequently, into the rain. It could kill fish, beavers, frogs and birds. I found that some researches have proven that weed killer is toxic to the environment. John Struger, a scientist at the Canadian Centre for Inland Waters, analyzed urban streams and detected nine types of herbicides. Tyrone Hayes, the developmental endocrinologist at the University of California at Berkeley, said that over-use of herbicide is directly effecting male tadpoles in the laboratory. He tested the level used in the environment, and found that this chemical removed the testicles of male tadpoles, and prevented male characteristics from fully forming. He concluded that herbicide exposure turns the tadpoles into hermaphrodites (creatures with both male and female sexual characteristics). If there are no more male frogs, frog populations will decrease, and, without the frogs to consume them, bug populations will increase. In fact, herbicides are not only harmful to our environment but are also slowly poisoning both children and adults. Children are at a high risk of infection because their immune systems are very weak. A U.S. National Cancer Institute survey found that children with leukemia and asthma are six times more likely to come from homes where herbicides were used. Children are most at risk of developing problems because they play on lawns, and herbicides can enter through their skin. And according to Dr. Kelly Martin, 20% of the people who arrive in hospital emergency rooms with toxic herbicide exposure are children who have crawled on a lawn after it had been sprayed safely. The Ontario College of Family Physicians, the Canadian Public Health Association and the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada have said that herbicides affect children’s neurological development, reproduction, growth, and the functioning of the immune and endocrine systems. Moreover, Canadians are using approximately four million kilograms of herbicides every year. Adults have stronger immune systems, but are also affected by the chemical sprays, exhibiting symptoms such as sneezing, running nose, stinging eyes, headache and diarrhea. Now scientist had investigated organic herbicide, this organic product is vinegar. Vinegar does great job in killing off weeds without hurting plants, animals and human. The acidic nature of vinegar (4 percent acetic acid) is what makes it an ideal organic herbicide. It is perfectly for farm and even home garden. All you need to do is make a one-time application of a quart of vinegar using a standard spray bottle. This is a cheap alternative way to protect both human and environment. You can find vinegar anywhere like Superstore, Safeway and Wal-mart. This information reported by Rafiq Islam a soil and water specialist with Ohio State’s South Centers. i thnk i need a better conclusion
Bermuda grass lawn in Austin TX? Moved into my house 2 years ago, bermuda grass lawn, no sprinkler system. It was in poor shape last summer, lots of bare patches, weed infiltration, and think sparse grass. This year I have installed a sprinkler system and couldn't be happier with the results. I have also put down a several bags of "dillo dirt" here (organic compost). My grass is green, thickening up by the day and I couldn't be happier. But... I have several issues that are next on the list to address before I can truly say I have a great lawn. Here they are in no particular order: 1. I have several areas where St. Augustine has infiltrated. With the compost and sprinklers, its going gang busters. It's about 20% of my front yard now. I really don't care if I have all bermuda or all St. Augustine what does kinda bother me is half of both. Any ideas other than get on my knees and start yanking? 2. I have some pretty bad nutsedge patches and they are growing like mad as well. I intend to hit them with Image Nutsedge this evening. I have heard of sedgehammer w/surfactant added but didn't see it at Lowes. Any other ideas for the nutsedge? 3. Low growing!!!!! My neighbor who (rightly) installed his sprinkler the day after the sod went in his bermuda grass 2 yrs ago now has a thick lush low growing lawn. Mine is green but still grows tall fast and goes to seed quickly. Any ideas to "retrain" the lawn to acheive low growing?
If "plants' rights" comes to America through some wacky leftist agenda, what comes next? Imagine these headlines: "Native Wildflowers Sue Kudzu for Encroachment" "Activist Fights for Dandelion Rights. Sues Lawn Care Co. Over Abuse" "Rose Bushes File Suit Claiming Flower Show Proceeds From Socialite" "Corn Sues to Halt Harvest. Lawyer Channels Ears In Closing Argument. Says Corn Doesn't Want To Be Eaten" Some people are taking this seriously. How insane would you have to be to buy into this load of organic fertilizer? Gives a whole new meaning to "Keep Off of Grass" doesn't it? NJS- It's bad enough that they believe this s***, they want everyone else to believe it too.
The Organic Green Poll-Which would you rather have? 1)Flowers or flour 2)Soil or green leaves from a cherry tree 3)Sun flower seeds or blue berry seeds 4)Fresh dirty to rub in your face or fresh water from a water hose 5)A lawn mower or a big lawn mower that you can drive 6)The color green or the color yellow 7)A magazine on gardening or a magazine or how to take care of house plants 8)A rake for the autumn leaves or a shovel to plant baby plants 9)Greens to eat or sweet yams http://www.teleflora.com/flowerglossary.asp
How important are Amazon book reviews? Over a year ago my good friend wrote a great gardening book but it got a bad review. I think it was partly because the title of the book was misleading. My friend said that she had a contract that gave the right to name her book to the publisher. She says it's common. Have any authors heard of this? I would think an author would have the right to name her own book. So, the title didn't really describe the book content and actually made it seem like the book was about a specific topic, which was only covered in the first chapter (annuals). The book was about organic gardening practices for the home gardener and mostly about lawn, tree, and shrub care. But there was a small bit about typical garden center annuals in the beginning of the book. Anyhow, the book got a bad review and it was posted on Amazon. It was clear that the reviewer simply did not read more than the title or perhaps the first few pages of the book and totally missed the what the book was about. The review made it seem foolish to write about organic gardening with annuals-- when 9/10ths of the book was about perennials. The review was unsigned so my friend could not do anything about it. But it's the first thing anyone sees. Sales have been poor and I think it's because of the bad review and misleading title. My question: there have been some average reader reviews posted that are very positive and seem a lot more accurate than the "professional" one at the top of the Amazon page. But my friend is convinced that people do not read the reader's reviews and has begged me not to post a snarky review blasting the "pro" review at the top. But it seems like someone should correct a blatant error. Do people read Amazon reader reviews? Would a rebuttal help or hurt?
Christians only- Alrighty, here goes: Why can't I, as a Christian, also be an? environmentalist? I've been in church for 15 years. One constant I've noticed in the three churches we've attended is an almost total disregard for the environment and disdain for those who care. Why can't I be both a Christian and environmentally aware? My Christian friends have always good-naturedly ( sometimes to the point of annoying me) mocked and chided me for breastfeeding my kids, buying organic, recycling, not using chemical cleaners, pesticides and poisons in my home or on my lawn etc. How does caring about the Earth ( and my family's health) make me some kind of hippie heathen freak? Where in the Bible does it say God worked so hard creating such a beautiful world - and even rested after - and then created Adam and said, "Okay, get to trashin' it"? Aren't we supposed to be stewards? The only reason I've been able to come up with is, after the rapture, we won't be here anyway- well, what about until then? What about respect for God's creation and concern for our kids? A&S- I mean, as a general attitude, the way I live my life is met with tongue-in-cheek comments, longsuffering rolling of the eyes and pointed comments. I've only met others like me online. I just don't understand the general attitude that a Christian shouldn't waste time with environmental awareness?

What pesticide should I use on a potted tomato plant? I'm growing my first tomato plant. Its in a pot on my front step (I have no lawn or garden or dirt patch what-so-ever). There's about a million green tomato's popping out all over the place but I'm afraid that its going to get infested really quick and I'm so proud of my little guys that I don't want them to get ruined. Is there any pesticide that I can use? I'm afraid I should have tought of this a while ago so I'd like pointers on what I can do to salvage my crop this year and what I can do earlier next season too. I also have one bell pepper plant that I would like to protect. I'm interested in organic methods and the chemical stuff. I didn't expect to care about my baby sized garden this much...
I found a baby bird. What else can I do with it? We own a house in the country and every year birds make nests in our barn. I was putting the lawn mower away in the garage, which is about 100 yards away from the barn, and a baby bird came hobbling towards me. It is the same kind of bird that make their nests in the barn, and that's obviously where it came from. It appears to have an injured leg since it only pushes itself with one foot. It's an older baby. It has all of it's feathers and it's eyes are open. I know you're not supposed to put baby birds back in the nest as the mother will just shove it back out. Not only that, but that would mean climbing up a ladder to guess which nest it came out of while angry parents swoop at my head. So, I shredded some newspaper and put it in a bowl so it would stop trying to walk all over the yard. I put it in the driveway where I could keep an eye on it to see if the parents would come and feed it. I don't think it was shoved out of the nest because there is something wrong with it as it is older. I think it just fell out. But, no adults came to take care of it. I have pet birds in the house that are fed organic pellets. I crushed some and mixed them with water to make sort of a paste and tried to feed it with a straw. It just seemed really tired and not really interested in food. I put some little pieces of blanket over it to keep it warm over night and will try to feed it again in the morning. Is there anything else I can do? FYI: I did NOT touch it with my hands. I used leather chore gloves in case it has a disease or lice.

So, what air filters contain charcoal? Can these be placed in a room, or must they be installed in a house? Is there a possibility of anything malfunctioning and the air filter itself releasing a slew of nasties? And lastly, you're positive that a charcoal containing air filter will neutralize pesticides from the indoor air? After some searching, I found this. http://www.aircaresystems.com/product.asp?Product_Id=17043&d_Id=5256&l1=986&l2=5256 Would the V-bank charcoal module be able to filter out pesticides? It says it's effective against "solvents and other chemicals." Any recommendations for one that is efficient at doing this? Any recommendations for one that is efficient at doing this?
