What is the Best Home remedy for Palm Tree fertilizer? I just got some Palms installed and the Fronds are turning brown. I thought this might be because of a change in weather and me using a rotating sprinkler. it's been getting cold at night so I figured the water was not drying and was frying the Fronds in the morning. Doesn't seem to be helping the brown on the Fronds now that I'm only water the bottom. Can anyone give me a remedy to have lush green palms. Maybe something I can find in my cabinet because Unfortunately I just lost my job. So I might as well work on my house in the meantime! Also any ideas on how to keep them hydrated without jacking up my water bill? Sounds like a silly question but there has to be some way of doing this!
Can I use a fertilizer, like 14-14-14 (slow release) on my majesty palm tree? The palm is indoors and is about 5 1/2 feet high.

How can I save my palm tree from dieing? I have a few palm trees on my front lawn. They are probably only 8 or 9 feet tall. I went away for 5 weeks and they got no water at all. One looked pretty sick and only had one green (measly looking) frond left. Last night it got windy and blew that last frond off! So all that's left is the trunk. Should I bother with a lot of water and fertiliser, or is this palm tree a goner? Thanks
What fertilizer to use for kentia palm trees? It says to use slow-release fertilizer. Miracle Gro has a mix for palms but it doesn't say anything about the release. Any advice would be a great help. They will be grown indoor.

Why aren't my foxtail palm's branches bushy? I have a double foxtail palm in my side yard. When the tree was small the branches were very bushy. The trees grew very fast but now the branches aren't nearly as thick and bushy. I use palm tree fertilizer as directed. Will the branches become thicker with time?
When is the best time to fertilize my queen palm tree? I't been planted for close to a year now. It's about twelve feet high. The guy at the palm nursey suggested that I use a "triple 15" fertilizer, which I have...but I'm not sure how often I am supposed to be using it. Thanks!
What is happening with my Palm Tree??? I just bought a Majesty Palm about three weeks ago. I have replanted it into a large container with good soil in it and watered it and fertilized it as most "care" websites call for. The instructions all of the info websites call for are: bright light, water and fertilizer. I live in New Hampshire, and I intend on keeping the palm indoors during the winter (I have a big house) but right now, the conditions in my yard are perfect for this palm (full sun, 80-90 degrees) and lots of water. Yet, for some reason, the tips of the leaves are beginning to yellow and the leaves look like they are "tired" they are hanging down and aren't as "perky" as when I bought it. I am not sure what's going on, it seems to be fine, but then it is not as "fresh" as it used to be.
palmetto palm tree? I have a palmetto palm tree thaty seems to be growing but the leaves are yellow. What type of fertilizer do I need to use?
I need help keeping my young palm tree healthy/green? I have a young palm tree, not sure what kind. The trunk is about 1 foot high and the taller fronds reach about 2 feet high. I think I'm watering too often or too little, and I just can't figure out how much and how frequently to water it!! I have tried using Epsom salt, and also tried using a 28-8-3 fertilizer to help green it up. Could that have hurt the tree if I put too much?? I just want it to be healthy and green!!!
How to make palm tree more resistant to cold? Hi, I live in Alabama and have a Chinese Fan Palm outside in a pot. My neighbor has an identical one. As soon as the temperature falls below 27F or so, the leaves on my tree start drying up and the green leaf color does not seem as bright, bascially by spring i end up cutting half the leaves off. Its 2 years old and both last winter and this winter we had to take it inside, which results in many bugs and spiders coming from the soil/pot. My neighboor never takes it in and his leaves are bright green and palm tree looks great. Is there a special fertilizer or something that i can purchase to make it stronger in cold weather?
Help! Dying Palm Tree!? I have a very strange situation with my palm tree. First, it is about 5.5ft. and I bought it exactly 10 days ago. When I purchased it the tree was beautiful, green and lush. I had it delivered and when it arrived the soil seemed wet so I didn't water it at first because I read that it should be watered in the winter only once a week. Well, 5 days after purchase I noticed the ends of the leaves were starting to brown. I checked the soil and decided to give it water since it seemed dry. Then, I did what I guess is a no, no, I cut the dead parts of the tree. The next 5 days it has been deteriorating rapidly and now the leaves are almost all brown with green stems. What should I do? I just bought this plan how can it be dead already! I haven't been watering again, the soil still feels moist. I did read that I should keep the leaves misted so I purchased a spray bottle. I've read about fertilizer -- but after one week? I'm beyond understanding what is happening here. Maybe my apartment is too dry for the leaves? Any advice would be appreciated
New to Indoor Palms (have a Pygmy Date Palm) and I have a few questions? My first excursion to a big box store after my wife telling me that she would like to have a palm tree in our apartment didn't turn out to well. I was told to go with a majestic palm and it will do well indoors and will only get about 8 foot. After some research I found out that they are very hard to keep indoors and will attain a size over 20 foot or more. Also, this majestic palm has a millipede infestation. So back to Lowes it goes last night. I get my refund and after doing some more research we had picked out a Pygmy Date Tree. Read that they do well indoors, don't get too large/slow grower and it's pretty much what my wife wants. An indoor palm that looks like an outdoor palm. Get to Home Depot and they have a huge selection of the dwarf pygmy palm in a couple sizes. The first ones we look at have about 7-8 trees all bunched up in I guess a 8 inch pot or so. That's a guess as they were so bunched it was hard to really see them all. So I get some help and the lady seems very knowledgeable. She brings me back to where most of their palms are kept outside in direct sunlight. These pygmy palms are nearly as bunched, at most only 4 total in a pot. So I ask her to pick me out a decent looking one, as most of what I'm seeing have some brown ends, or the leaves of the fronds look as though they are turning reddish-brown. She picks me out what looks to be the best out of the bunch (less of what I just mentioned) and told me that it really just needs some fertilizer. I buy it, a 12 inch pot, all purpose potting soil and palm fertilizer. I haven't repotted it yet as I will do that tomorrow. It has some thicker looking roots at the top of teh soil, whiteish in color, so I figure it needs to be repotted. Now to my questions... the pot that I have has 4 trees in it. Can I seperate them into single trees or should I just leave them as is? Was the lady correct about the coloration of the leaves? If not, what can I do? Any other hints you can give me on this palm? I'm from the north and I never kept a palm tree before. So this really is all new to me with palm trees. Since we live in an apartment, we're not able to plant one outside in a yard to enjoy, so this was my alternative.
Do banana skins provide good cleaning and fertilizer for all house plants? I have a 3 large palm tree like plant s and their leaves get so dusty from being inside. Someone mentioned I should rub the inside of the banana peel on it's leaves to give it shine and remove the dust. I don't want to kill it either, any ideas?
What is best fertilizer and care for pindo palms in southern Virginia? Newly planted Pindo Palm trees in sand/soil mix. Recieves full sun (6-8 hrs) and provided solar night lighting.
websites with recipes for plant fertilizer, preferably different varieties? Since the chemicals are cheap and commercially offered liquid fertilizer comparatively expensive and also not adaptable to different plants, does anybody know a website which has recipes for making your own from ingredients like KCl, MgSO4 etc? I've read I would need a high potassium fertilizer for a palm tree I have, and I can't find anything locally, but it wouldn't be a problem for me to mix it myself as I have access to basic chemicals. I just don't want to kill my plants in the process. If anybody who know a useful website in that regard, please let me know. Thanks for any inspirations you may be able to provide...
It has been 6 months since transplanting two date palm trees but as yet new leavers have not emerged? I had not put fertilizer in them except a month back (used NPK fertilizer 20, 20, 20). For the first month I watered them daily, second month on alternate days and afterwards it has been once a week. I live in (Karachi) Pakistan. Please help me answer following :- 1. When are new leaves expected to emerge? 2. How can I know if the trees have survived transplanting? 3. How often should I apply fertilizer in them, which fertilizer should be used and in how much quantity?
Palm Food??? Does anyone know of a GOOD fertilizer/mineral supplement for palm trees that can be ordered online? I can't find a suitable one locally.
Anyone know anything fertilizing Robellini palm trees? Any advice is useful!!? My robellini palm trees are dying. I live in South Florida and I've had them for many years. I am hoping the right type of fertilizer will help. Any suggestions on fertilizer?
How often do I need to feed my houseplants? I have a Ponytail palm tree and a bamboo plant. And may be getting a catus and venus flytrap in the near future. Just wanns know how often and what I should feed them. I know there's some speacial soil or fertilizer you can buy that "feeds" them, right? And I just feed them during the growing season, right? (spring and/or summer)?
What can I do with a copper plant holder that Mold grows around the top of planter? I have a beautiful plant holder maid of marble and copper. So I put inm a palm tree and some pretty plants. Palm trees in shock after being transplanted? I transplanted about 16 large (about 12 - 15 ft tall) Macarthur Palm trees, I excavated around the root ball and left between 3 ft to 1 ft of roots, I planted them the same day and watered immediately. Five days later I put a gallon of Root Stimulator & Starter Solution by Green Light (5-15-5) (yesterday). It has been raining a lot every day here in Miami, Fl except for today, the smaller palms are doing fine but the large ones seem to be in shock, the leaves are brown and some has fallen down. I'd like to know if I need to put more water or when can I apply more fertilizer and do you think the palm trees are going to die or do they survive easily being moved like this? Thanks. If I water them too much is it going to wash down the fertilizer? is it better to use "dry" fertilizer instead of water soluble?
can palm trees produce coconut indoors? If they are kept warm and with fertilizer?
Any green thumbs out there? We transplanted a little funny looking Tropical tree-we haven't a clue what it is? I think it is some kinda of Palm. Any tips to try and keep it alive? Any natural fertilizers, like coffee grounds or anything else? Should we water everyday? We're in Northern Florida and still warm and sunny here.
Yellow and Brown spots on tips of my Windmill Palm- HELP!? I have a windmill palm tree in a 5 gallon pot (it's fairly new and it's not very tall, maybe two feet). I have left it outside and watered it almost daily. I have got one of those spray fertilizers that you put with water and spray all over, and I have gotten it those vitamin drops (it's supposed to be award winning) and I have gotten it some plant nitrogen food stuff that isn't supposed to burn it. The tips of the palm on some branches are brown-ish yellow-ish and I think have a hole in one of them. The plant is growing, and it's looking bigger than when I bought it. It's in the same soil and all, but it looks almost like weeds or something is also growing in the pot as well. Am I watering it too much? is that possible? Have I fertilized it too much? I'm only keeping it in the pot until our yard is repaired (we're building a pool and the yard is all gravel and crap now) PLEASE HELP!!
I punctured my finger on my Meyer lemon tree thorn, now my knuckles are swollen and stiff. Has this happened ? I used ice and benedryl, but still swollen, and my palm is now also sore. I never used pesticide or fertilizer on this plant.
What can I do to treat brown spots on Pindo Palm fronds? What can I do to treat brown spots on what I think is a male Pindo Palm fronds? These two Pindos were planted 4 years ago. The other, smaller, fruit bearing female (I wish I had known before, these trees had sexes ;-/) does not have any of these spots at all. Both trees get the same amount of fertilizer and irrigation, here in the Arizona Sonoran Desert. And, yes, Pindos are supposed to do well here, although they are native to Brazil. Any clues about what to do about the brown spots and while I have your ear, you think there is any way I can pursuade the female tree to catch up to the male, in size? Its just a little over 1/2 the size of the male. Not a very pleasant result for all the work and time I've invested. How I wish the nursery would have told me about there being sexes. Grrr.
Instructions on planting a Meyer lemon tree in container...? I am getting a Meyer Lemon Tree (4-6 foot including roots) and not really sure well...what to do. I am not sure exactly what potting soil mix to purchase or what pot size. I read that Miracle Grow Cactus Palm and Citrus has too much peat moss and will leave the tree in too much water. I am new to this whole thing and was wondering if theres a specific brand along with fertilizer I may need and pot size. The only thing I am sure is the pot needs alot of holes for proper drainage. Thanks!!
Citrus trees dying.? I am caring for a property in hot southern California in the desert near Palm Springs. The mature orange and lemon tree on the property seems to be slowly dying. No new leaves are forming and the old ones have fallen off. I have also planted 3 other baby citrus trees (grapefruit, lemon, lime) and only one of those (grapefuit) is leafing and flowering. The other 2 lost their leaves and the trees look like green sticks in the ground. I have been watering them every other day and removing some of the dead limbs. Does anyone have any advice on saving the remaining trees and any tips on keeping baby citrus trees healthy and growing? Do I need a specific fertilizer? Any answers would be helpful. PS All of the other plants on the property are thiriving---however most of them are drought and heat tolerant. (Bougainvilla, cactus, fig, oleander, palms.)
Bugs in my plant? I bought a plant about 3 months ago. I can't remember what kind it is. It looks tropical almost like a bamboo tree w/ large palm leaves. Its about 3 feet tall Anyways, my husband got this bright idea to put old coffee grounds in the plant. he said it was good fertilizer. Well he started doing that and then I started noticing little gnats and fruit flies throughout my house. Not to mention, I woke up a few days ago to find a mushroom growing in the freaking potter. The plant was in my living room. When I got up close to it, the dirt was crawling w/ these nasty bugs. I moved the plant outside (which its not supposed to be outside). I know I need to put the plant in new dirt, but how can i get these damn bugs out my house. They are so tiny you can only see them when they fly right infront of your face! Help! Yes they must like the water! When we put the plant outside on the patio we took the tray thing out from underneath the potter to let it drain. There was soooo much water in the planter.

how to get rid of grass and put in retaining wall? My mom has a really big back yard. Last summer she hire some people to do a concrete patio with cover. However, the dirt that was dug up was pour on to this part of the backyard. Now there are tons of grass grown on it. She has 4 large queen or king palm trees and a canary palm tree grown there. She dont want to harm the trees since they are thriving. She plans to get rid of all the grass, and put in some new fertilizer and soil and put in a retaining wall and trellis next to it. We have attempted to get rid of the grass before. It look fine for a month or two then the grass grows over it again. We already have the bricks. Is there any product or better method to get rid of the grass completely. There is two types of grass there. One is full of seeds but really easy to pull up. The other one is a pain in the a-- to get rid of. It has these really long fat roots that goes on forever. Don't really know where to dig up once it goes way under.
