Lesco Fertilizer Knowledge Base

Can I use my lawn fertilizer on my Hostas? I have left over Lesco 18-24-12. It's a polymer coated fertilizer, so it has delayed release characteristics. I want to build rootmass in my hostas now in time for winter. Any harm in using this and do I use a teaspoon, tablespoon or more around the plant?

ALSO, HAVE SEEN A BRAND CALLED "REBEL" GRASS SEED..IS IT ANY GOOD? HOW COMPARED TO ABOVE? AND WHAT ABOUT PENNINGTON?

Crabgrass control failure? When using a pre-emergent crabicide (TEAM) in combination with a spring lawn fertilizer I notice poor control annual grass control next to concrete walks and driveways. I can't blame it on poor application procedure. I use a Lesco rotary broadcaster and these areas should receive at least there portion due to having any excess material scattered on walks etc. swept or blown back into the lawn areas immediately adjacent to the concrete. Other lawn areas not immediately adjacent to the concrete areas exhibit good control. The lawns are usually bluegrass/fine fescue/perennial ryegrass turfs. Has anyone also seen this problem when using pre-emergents such as Team or Dimension? Could the problem be a result of excess heat build-up next to paved areas?
