Northern Va. 1/4 acre lawn mowing prices. How much? How much is typical for a professional, licensed, insured lawn service to charge for just mowing an average 1/4 acre lot weekly in the Northern Virginia area? Or any other large (high cost of living) major metro area. PLEASE state what metro area you're from if not NOVA. I don't trust the neighborhood kids (not that one would have the ambition to earn a buck around here anyway) and am looking for prices to determine what is high-low-and median. Anyone here had much success making money by mowing lawns? With just a push mower, no weed eater, no raking? Looking to make extra money. Have a push mower, and will gladly mow lawns within a 4 mile radius of my home for cheap prices. Will not be raking the clippings nor any leaves. Will not be using a weed eater either. It is just not a riding mower, and not a mulching one (no bag).

Want to buy lawn mower for basic yard, advice on what kind appreciated? Have time on my hands, and see no reason to pay the overly high price people charge for yard work. I have a straight lawn, no golf green type look, main grasss in front and only a little in the back. Don't want expense of riding lawn mower. Want to get one easy to work. What expenses should I plan for when moving into a house? I am in a dorm room now, the rent is ~$5600/year. The guy with the house is asking $375/person/month (3 people) and he will cover the utilities. Cable internet/tv is extra ($80 which will be split b/t at least 2 of us=>just under $30 each up to $40 each), and it is 15 minutes from campus (@ 40mph). I get pretty good gas mileage, but even one trip to campus and back per day 5 days a week would mean an extra $32.44/month and that is using my highway mpg rather than in-town mpg (which would raise the price). I'm not sure whether he would make us keep up the lawn (mowing, etc.). Do you think he would expect that of us? If he does, then we would either have to do it ourselves (and buy gas, a lawn mower, etc.), or we would have to pay someone to do it (twice a month for 1/3 of the year means $160/year=$13.33/month). Do you think my estimations are reasonable, and what would be any other expenses that I would have to pay for (excluding groceries)? Would it be worth it?

Need help pricing landscaping jobs!!!? I've been doing landscaping work in southern Ohio for people under the table for about three years now. My customer base has gotten so big I need to come up with standard prices. These are some of the things I need priced: Tree trimming- Lawn mowing/trimming- Creating new flower beds- Planting new flowers/trees- Brush removal- If anyone can help I'd appreciate it
How do you encourage a neighbor to clean up their property? We have a nice neighborhood but we have several neighbors who are pigs- trash, clutter, cars on front lawn, mow their yard sporadically... They are not very friendly with others and at least one other neighbor has spoken to them about some of these issues, but they don't care. I can't imagine what the inside of the house looks like! Any suggestions how to get them to clean up their yards? How about a picture of their mess with a letter explaining about property values and how it would increase their price of their house, when they get ready to sell? Anyone ever have this problem and find a solution? Many of us are frustrated by these messy, uncaring homeowners.

Why do companies use commercial walk behind mowers? Why do most landscapers use commercial walk behind mowers when the cost of a brand new garden or yard tractor is so much less? I was looking to start up a buisness and I found that a 8 - 10 year old walk behind commercial mower (32-48 inches) is the same price as a brand new tractor? Why if illegal mexicans are very good at cleaning toilets,and mowing lawns,their neigborhoods are so dirty? they say they are better than US workers,they say they do it for less pay,but their own neigborhoods look like a garbage dump,junk cars,broken beer bottles,garbage all over the alleys and yards and everyone has a shopping cart from the local walmart store in their yard,some have up to five carts,must be well off families.Anyone living nearby knows their property devaluate every year that goes by,the lucky ones that sold their homes,had to settle for less than the price it was worth,the sad part is that the politicians and company owners that are for illegals live away as far as they can from them.wouldn't it be great to have all the illegals living next to Ted Kennedy's mansion or George W Bush's ranch?
