My Lawn Grass is Seeding -- Why should i Mow? I read somewhere (i might be wrong) that you shouldn't let your grass grow to the point where it develops these funny pods at their tips that contain new grass seeds, and that it should be mowed before it gets to this point. Guys and mowing the lawn???!!!? Ok, so today it was really hot and the lawn needed mowed so I put on shorts and a tank top- not a good idea. Well I have two neibors and the first has this habit of instantly going outside every time I come out to water his flowers, even if he'd watered them an hour before. The second I hadnt noticed before today but I was mowing in rows towards his house and he had his son with him and he was on the phone. Well he kept on staring at me and when I glared, he turned around, but as soon as I mowed the other way, he turned around again and watched me again! when I turned, he turned, and so forth for a couple of rows, until I went to the other side of the house, the side he couldnt see me from at his angle- and he moved and kept staring so I went to the back where he couldnt possibly see me but he kept waiting for me to finish the side I'd abandoned because of him. I ran over the same spot over and over and over again until he quit. So does anyone have any tips on dealing with this sort of thing? And I will wear more clothing next time, it was just really really really hot and I never wear stuff like that unless its horrible. Anything I could say or do to stop this from happening?

Tips on growing a beautiful lawn for a dummy? My family lives in a cul-de-sac and I feel as though our family is known to be the one that doesn't take care of their lawn. The house across from us has a beautiful even green lawn. Commercial Lawn Mowing: How to sharpen the blade BEST? I know how to get it off and on, I just would like to know what the best angle or what is. It is a rotary blade on a self-propelled mower. All my family mows too, and they each say they sharpen blades the best, and say that the other is wrong. My dad does a 45 degree angle then puts an extra tilt at the top, and that feels pretty sharp and he barely takes any off. My other brother just does a straight 45 degree but grinds the hell out of it, shrotening the span. Another brother does a 45 degree and then does a backwards angle so it ends up to be a V shape, he claims That the lack of surface area on that tip is what is going to cut the best. So really, I just want to know how to sharpen a blade the best, as in which method. Also, my lawns have white haze sometimes, it is upper 90 degrees. My dad says I mow too fast. Is this true? Is there a way to go fast AND not get white haze? It is cutting productivity 50% going slow : \ I didn't mention, we do have an electric grinder. I want to know the angle of which to sharpen the blade.

What happens if i use a Power Rake on my uncut lawn? My lawn has grown to 4 inches in height (you can see the grass seeds on their tips). I am eager to just manually rake my lawn to make some of these seeds fall onto my lawn before i mow the entire thing (and bag it). This way i can have a much thicker, greener lawn when these new seeds germinate. I saw a gas-powered Power rake for rent at my local hardware store which could expedite the process of raking. I assume that you can read the short question above; to be more detailed; I have a slope grade to the highway for mowing; the DOT graded it that way so that we could mow it with a riding mower at a right angle vs vertical (up and down) I've read on the web about weights that you mount to the rear wheels for more traction and keeping it from tipping over. Why is my lawn mower shooting smoke out the side? after i bought some oil (i made sure it's the right kind), i put it in my lawn mower. I started my mower and it started to shoot smoke out the side a little bit so i stopped and realized i put in too much oil. I then tipped my mower over and took out a large portion of the oil. I started it up again and it still smoked out the side but eventually it stopped after a couple of seconds(30ish). I then proceeded mowing and after a while it stopped so i checked the oil and there wasn't enough oil. I put in some more oil and then when i started it up again it started to shoot the smoke out the side again. What's goign on?
