zoysia grass? i have weeds/grass ? growing in my zoysia, how do i get rid of it?

Zoysia Grass? I'd love to hear from people who have put zoysia grass in their lawn. I think I'm going to do it next spring. I've got about 10,000 sf of lawn. If you've done this before: Was it worth the effort? How long did it take to grow in thick? How closely did you plant your plugs? Who did you get your plugs from?

I just bought the house and while everyone elses grass is bushy and green in summer, yellow brown in winter, mine is patchy and bare throughout. The top half of my zoysia grass blades are brown? I have a Zoysia lawn in Bradenton, FL. The top of of most of the grass blades is brown. I have tried different fertilizers and different watering pasterns with no success. Our neighbors (with a lawn service) have a nice green lawn. What am i doing wrong? Is my lawn grass Zoysia or something else? It's located in upstate South Carolina. It's a warm season grass. It was the first to green up this spring. The leaf tapers to a sharp point. The sheath is rather tight around the clum and then splits making it loser. There are no auricles. The Ligules may be thin membranes and the leaf base is slightly fuzzy. Is it Zoysia?

Has anyone used or heard of Amazoy zoysia grass? We saw an add in a gardening catalogue for this "amazing" grass that you receives as plugs. It is excellent for horrible soil and we have tried everything for the past 6 seasons to get half decent grass in our yard. I am just wondering if anyone has used it and if they had any luck with it. What's causing patches of dead grass (zoysia)? My front yard is all zoysia. We've had small patches of dead grass here and there. However, during the past several years it appears that large patches of dead are forming. We've successfully planted & transplanted large areas of sod over an area where a tree & stump were removed seven years ago but the dead areas are not over the transplanted areas. The dead patches are on gently sloping areas as well as flat areas. Any idea what's going on?

We live in northeast wyoming. Is Zoysia grass a good option for this area? We have about 13 inches of rain per year. The ground is very rocky. We need something tough and that will survive hot dry summers and cold winters. By the way, in Wyoming ALL lawn grasses look dead from the first hard freeze until spring. Planting Zoysia Grass? I just planted my zoysia grass today, and we have an acre of land...we got so tired of doing the itty bitty pieces of plugs like they told us to and the pallets they ship you we ended up cutting them into 4 sections rather than 150 like it said it could do. We ordered 1900 plugs. Do you think it will work just as well? I dont understand how anyone has patience to do all of those little plugs.
